Railcare has been appointed to a four-year contract with the Swedish Transport Administration relating to standby locomotives worth a total of SEK 152 million, corresponding to SEK 38 million annually. The start date of the contract is 1 August 2022 and involves four new locations (Långsele, Boden, Vännäs and Kiruna).
Standby locomotives are used to ensure faster recovery of vehicles and, in exceptional cases, evacuation. The assignment involves transport of railway vehicles involved in an adverse event or affected by breakdown on the railway network managed by the Swedish Transport Administration. Recovery/transport relates to initial measures aimed at removing obstacles and making the track usable for traffic.
Railcare will supply a standby locomotive including staff for each location, which will be available for call-off around the clock every day of the year.
”Last year, we signed an agreement with the Swedish Transport Administration relating to a standby locomotive in Borlänge. We are pleased to have gained the renewed confidence of the Swedish Transport Administration, who has expanded our assignment to include standby locomotives in four new locations. The new contract ensures the long-term approach of our transport operations,” commented Mattias Remahl, CEO of Railcare Group AB.
Closing date for submission of complaints is 10 days from today, and formal contractual signing can take place after this period at the earliest.
